About this listing

Templito – Ideal Sayulita Beachside Villa,Steps to Beach

Just above the beach at the quiet north end of Sayulita Bay, set in a lush tropical garden, under a giant Fig Tree, you will find El Templito (The Little Templito). There are great ocean views, a swimming pool, and balmy sea breezes.

Stately Cantera stone stairs lead down from the vine-covered parking area above to a lovely little courtyard filled with tropical plants. Beautiful hand-carved Cantara stone columns support the tile roof covering the open-air combination kitchen/living/dining room. The surrounding arches frame the lovely views looking out on the hills of Sayulita, the tropical gardens, the private pool, and the ocean and beach views. There are Mexican tile counters and modern appliances in the well-equipped kitchen.

Just off the patio is a small wading pool above the larger, deeper pool. You can see the beach from the pool.

A cobblestone stairway leads down through lush gardens of heliconia, palms, and gingers to your own private stairway to the north end of Sayulita beach (Playa Norte) and trails to the pristine beaches to the north. Templito has two air-conditioned King size bedrooms that are in separate, adjacent buildings. Each suite has gracious Mexican tiled bathrooms with showers, comfortable king-size beds, handmade local hardwood furniture, and regional artwork. There is air-conditioning and safes in both bedrooms.

The house has a bath and beach towels, bed linens, purified, reverse osmosis filtered drinking water, and maid service.

We provide a cell phone for local calls and there is WI-Fi internet access.

Iris the property manager and her family can be hired to prepare delicious meals of the local cuisine. She can also arrange airport pickup, golf cart rentals, in-house massages, fishing trips, etc.

Templito is a perfect getaway for two couples, a couple with an older child or friend, or honeymooners. (Due to the separate bedrooms and the open architecture, we do not recommend this house for small children unless they are in the same room.)

Templito is a peaceful, tranquil retreat where body and soul can relax, watch and listen to the ocean waves, the whales, exotic jungle and sea birds, and spectacular sunsets. El Templito is a perfect place to be at peace and harmony with nature and enjoy beautiful Sayulita.

  • My parents and I absolutely loved El Templito. The open air kitchen and dining area were amazing and where we spent most of our time. Although the appliances are a bit dated, El Templito has everything you need for cooking and dining there. The place was cleaned everyday (except Sunday) and the groundskeeper was there everyday to clean the pool and take care of the lush and beautiful gardens. The beach is literally 50 steps down a beautiful stone pathway. This part of the beach is quite deserted and peaceful. It is about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the busier part of the beach and to town where there are amazing shops and restaurants. I would strongly recommend renting a golf cart to get to and around town ($40/day). The only issues we had were that the property manager was not there to greet us when we arrived so it took us a while to actually know which building it was and where things were and how to work things. When I accidentally locked myself out of the room and contacted the property manager, she said she “had an appointment in Puerto Vallarta” and could not come. The wonderful cleaning lady came to the rescue instead and was there within 20 minutes. The other complaint (which is beyond the control of the owner) is that a bulldozer arrived during our second week to clear land in front of El Templito where a new house is going to be built. From 8 am to 6 pm it was extremely noisy, dusty and filled the air with diesel fumes. I hope the construction finishes quickly so other guests do not have that ruin the peace and tranquility of El Templito. Otherwise, I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend El Templito to others looking for a little piece of paradise in Sayulita!

  • We had such a great time! Everything was perfect with our own beach just steps away. If you’re going to Sayulita, the North end of the beach is by far the best location to stay. Quiet and relaxing with the town only a short 10 minute walk on the beach. Being away from the hustle and bustle of the town was ideal. It was soooo nice to have our own pool to cool off and hang out in. The bedrooms had plenty of space, very comfortable beds and air conditioning. The kitchen was fully stocked which allowed us to prepare some of our meals. The entire process of booking the place and other services went so smooth. Rosie came everyday for housekeeping and Daniel took great care of the pool/landscape and brought purified water daily. Iris was very responsive to our questions. We used the recommended transportation service and they were also great. Prompt and on time with a stop at the Mega market to load up on supplies before heading to Sayulita. I would highly recommend hiring Chef Roberto to come prepare a meal. We had him come the night of our arrival which was great as we didn’t have to worry about finding a place to eat. We requested a carnitas dinner and it was fabulous. If you like to fish, find Captain Regis (Sayulitalife.com) and charter his panga. He will give you an awesome day on the water. We hired Chef Roberto a second time and he prepared our fresh catch: fish tacos, sashimi, ceveche!! It was amazing! We took the short hike to Playa Malpaso where we were the only ones on this beautiful beach. We had a great time and Templito was such an amazing place to call our home for a week! We will definitely be back. Thanks Andrea for sharing your home!!

As far as covid testing before coming home, we chose to do it at the airport before our departure. Definitely the cheapest at $25 per person and efficient. Overall it took about an hour to get tested and to get the results by email. So make sure to give yourself the extra time.

  • This was our 5th time in Sayulita and we have stayed in various properties. Mariluna is in a great location with easy beach access. We only used one of the bedrooms but would love to return with a group to use the whole house. The kitchen/living area are all open air and the bedrooms are enclosed with AC.
